Escape by John O’Riley

What I expected:
I didn’t have any preconceived notion of what this book may be like, nor what it was about. The author kindly sent me a copy to read and review, so I did not read any descriptions or advertising before diving straight in!

What it was:
This is the third book in the Wizards of Seattle series. I have no idea what the first two books were about as I have never read them, but it didn’t matter as this book seemed complete without having read the previous books.
The story centres on three wizards who share a house infused with ancient magic, that has been passed down through their family. Jason and Benjamin are brothers, Amy is their cousin. Benjamin and Amy have achieved White Magic status, but Jason prefers to stay as a mainstream category six wizard.
Each of them has everyday jobs, Jason’s involves working for the police helping to solve crimes. Jason discovers dark magic connection with a case his working on. It soon becomes a major battle on several levels for Jason, his colleagues and the mysterious White Knights.
The story is engaging and although in places I was very aware of the author writing the tale, in general I found it engaging. I would really like to know how things develop on from the end of this book, it left some intriguing tendrils still hanging.
I received an e-ARC of this novel from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

3/5 Stars

Official description:-
Jason is starting to become accustomed to his new role as psychometrist for the Seattle PD when he is assigned a disturbing new case involving dark magic. He soon discovers that this is more than just a simple case of murder. It involves the Ancients as well as the original White Knights of legend.

The White Knight Council has serious problems of their own and limited resources so they can only spare two of their own to assist the Seattle PD in handling this new threat, an immortal dark wizard who’s gifted with incredibly powerful black magic that the modern world has never seen. Jason and his colleagues must find and defeat the dark wizard before he becomes unstoppable.
