Legacy Code (Book One of Fractured Era: Legacy Code) by Autumn Kalquist

I read this book in one evening. I was dragged into a harsh world on board star faring spaceships where food was rationed and workers from the lower levels were looked down on. The Legacy Code was a defect affecting offspring of those on board the ship and Era the heroine is waiting to find out if her baby has the Defect. Now I just need to read the next book to see where the story goes from here, was the ending quite as expected? Oh and I was just so glad that the intimate parts of the book remained tasteful with no explicit scenes. A refreshing change from some books I’ve read recently.

I received a review copy in exchange for an honest review. 😉

4/5 Stars

Official description (from http://www.autumnkalquist.com/fractured-era-series/):-

The last humans fled a dying Earth 300 years ago, but there was something they couldn’t leave behind: The Legacy Code.

Every colonist in the fleet carries mangled genes that damage the unborn, and half of all pregnancies must be terminated.

The day seventeen-year-old Era Corinth is supposed to find out if her baby has the Defect, her ship suffers a hull breach. And it may not have been an accident.

As the investigation unfolds, Era begins to question everything she’s been taught about the fleet, their search for a new Earth, and the Defect. But the answers she seeks were never meant to be found…
